Oenothera biennis
Evening primrose is a hardy biennial plant which flowers in the second year. As the name suggests the flowers
open in the evening and stay open throough the night.
Growing tip: This is a no fuss plant. It will grow and flower in a range of soil types and fertility.
Position: Full sun to part shade
Height / spacing: 60cm, 40cm
Uses: The roots taste like parsnip and can be roasted or grated and used raw.
The leaves and flowers are added to salads.
Tea infusions of the flowers and leaves whilst not as high in oil as the seed, will still offer relief from pain
