Brassica oleracea
Kales are an old favorite of many European countries. High in iron and very decorative.
Growing Tip: Plant Kale in a sunny well drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Cabbage White Butterfly loves Kale. Spray with Eco Oil or Eco Neem to control this pest.
Position: Full sun.
Harvest: Kale can be harvested over a long period of time. Pick the outer leaves as required to encourage new growth.
Uses: Kale can be eaten raw, juiced, steamed or boiled. A favorite with children is baked with olive oil to turn it crispy like potato chips.
