Description
Taraxacum officinale
Often classes as a commom useless weed, Dandelion is far from this. It has strong alkalising benefits, is loaded with minerals and can be made into a tea or eaten raw.
Growing tips: Dandelions are suited to a wide range of soil types and fertility
Position: Full sun to part shade
Height / spacing: 20cm, 20cm
Uses: I teaspoon of root or 5 – 6 leaves steeped in water for a tea. Great for those with skin complaints.
Young leaves can be added to salads, stir fried.
The ground root makes a coffee substitute without the caffiene.
